Aug. 22 (Bloomberg) — Tea production in Kenya, the world’s biggest exporter of the black variety of the leaves, may drop by almost a third this year after a drought curbed yields, the East African Tea Traders Association.
“The weather has affected output and we predict a decrease of up to 30 percent of last year’s all time record output of 399 million kilograms,” Peter Kimanga, chairman of the Mombasa-based industry body, said in an interview on Aug. 19. In July, the Tea Board of Kenya said output may fall as much as 25 percent.
East Africa experienced two poor rainy seasons that caused one of the worst droughts in 60 years, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki in May declared the drought a national disaster.
Tea is the biggest foreign-currency earner in Kenya, East Africa’s largest economy replica watches, which relies on agriculture to generate a quarter of its economic output. Tea production dropped 16 percent in the first half to 178.4 million kilograms (393.3 million pounds), the tea board said last month.
“The dry weather remains the biggest challenge as it is expected to affect output in the key tea-growing regions across the country,” Sicily Kariuki, the chief executive officer of the board Replica Watches, said in the interview.
The impact of the drought on export earnings for the crop may be offset by the shilling’s decline against the dollar, Kimanga said. The currency weakened 13 percent so far this year and is Africa’s second-worst performer, after neighboring Uganda. Kenyan exports dropped 2.4 percent to 211.7 million kilograms in the first half, according to the tea board.
Adding Value
Industry officials are in discussions with the government to help add value to shipments of Kenya’s tea. The state currently levies a value-added-tax of 16 percent on all processed tea and charges a 25 percent import duty on packaging materials, Kimanga said.
“The country business environment is not conducive for tea processing as there are numerous levies and higher taxes which are punitive,” Kimanga said. “By doing value addition we can sale directly to new markets such as Eastern Europe, West Africa, southern Africa and the Middle East Replica Watches, who are currently buying from countries such as Britain which processes our tea.”
Pakistan is the biggest buyer of Kenyan tea replica handbags, followed by Egypt, Afghanistan and Sudan, according to the tea board.

Sir Paul Mccartney Orders Bankers To Hand Back Public Cash
Sir Paul Mccartney is furious U.K. taxpayers bailed out struggling British banks only to see staff awarded huge bonuses, and he’s demanding finance bosses pay back the cash.
The Beatles legend is adamant the controversial Occupy Wall Street anti-capitalism protests are justified as outrage grows over the global banking crisis.
And he insists bosses of leading finance institutions should hand back money from the £500 billion U.K. government rescue package which was put together following the run on British bank Northern Rock in 2007.
MCCartney tells The Times, “When the banks go bust and we bail them out – Ok, I can see that. But here’s the bit I feel is missing – they didn’t pay us back. I think everyone is like, ‘Wait a minute – did I miss something?’
“I am with all those people (in the ‘Occupy’ movement) in that respect. Pay it back.”

Alex James Hints Blur Could Play In 2012
Alex James has further hinted Blur will reform to play shows together after collecting the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize at the BRIT Awards 2012.
Alex James has further hinted Blur will play shows in 2012.
The ‘Song 2′ group are to receive the Outstanding Contribution to Music prize at next year’s BRIT Awards in February, and bassist Alex said being honoured with the prize has made them all miss being in the band.
He told radio station XFM: “We all remembered how much we loved being a band. I had always said in interviews I didn’t miss being in a band, but that reminded me that I did.
“Who knows what will happen, but there is a lot to look forward to.”
Alex – who completes the group alongside singer Damon Albarn, guitarist Graham Coxon and drummer Dave Rowntree – has also recently said he hopes the band record again in 2012.
He said: “We’re getting together for a Christmas drink next week which is nice. We still see each other all the time. We’ll probably record again.”
Blur last played together in 2009, when they reformed for a set of shows across Europe, and Graham has said the band has not changed, despite them all now being involved in different projects.
He said: “Being in a band this long is like a kind of time travel. We’re the same gang we ever were, we’ve just landed in a different era.
“Or possibly we’re a totally different Blur still playing the old tunes in 1991 forever. I haven’t decided. But it’s always nice to get a Brit Award.”
Previously, the ‘Beetlebum’ hitmaker’s only success at the BRIT Awards came in 1995, where they were honoured with Best British Band, Best Album for ‘Parklife’ and Best Single and Best Video for the record’s title track.
Traditionally, acts picking up the award close the ceremony with a performance, but it has not yet been confirmed whether Blur will play at the show, which takes place at The O2 in London in February.

1. ‘Narcopolis’; Written by Jeet Thayil; Published by Faber& Faber/Penguin India;
Priced at Rs.499
This book is a portrait of the beautiful and damned residents of an opium den and brothel in the underworld of Mumbai. It is a book about drugs, sex, death, perversion, addiction, love, and God, and has more in common in its subject matter with the work of William S. Burroughs or Baudelaire than with the subcontinent’s familiar literary lights.
‘Narcopolis’ opens in Bombay in the late 1970s, as its narrator first arrives from New York to find himself entranced with the city’s underworld, in particular an opium den and attached brothel. A cast of unforgettably degenerate and magnetic characters works and patronizes the venue, including Dimple, the eunuch who makes pipes in the den; Rumi, the salaryman and husband whose addiction is violence; Newton Xavier, the celebrated painter who both rejects and craves adulation; Mr. Lee, the Chinese refugee and businessman; and a cast of poets, prostitutes, pimps, and gangsters.
Decades pass to reveal a changing Bombay, where opium has given way to heroin from Pakistan and the city’s underbelly has become ever more raw. After a long absence, the narrator returns to find a very different Bombay in 2004.

To answer the question, the three friends begin to read from a handwritten copy of Ravin’s incomplete second book – the entire city listens breathlessly unable to believe the revelations to follow.
4. ‘Rabindranath Tagore: An Interpretation’; Written by Sabyasachi Bhattacharya; Published by Penguin India; Priced at Rs.499
This intellectual biography of Tagore, perhaps the first of its kind, portrays him as a man who was deeply skeptical, self-critical, tormented by conflicts in his ‘inner life’, aware of the historical significance of his times and continually interacted with adversaries and friends across the world; someone who built on the heritage of the 19th century renaissance in India and became one of the makers of the modern Indian mind.
Young Rabi rebelled against ‘Western’ schooling, suffered from chronic loneliness in childhood and after, and imbibed the cultural and literary climate in his privileged family; he also engaged as a cultural leader with the Swadeshi movement on Bengal’s partition in 1905, founded the school in Santiniketan and renounced his knighthood after Jallianwala Bagh.
Through his eighty-one years, Tagore swung between public life and seclusion of a poet. Coinciding with his 150th birth anniversary, the book illuminates Tagore’s extraordinary contributions: as a poet and writer, nationalist and ideologue, educationist and philosopher, composer and painter.
5.’Family Fables and Hidden Heresies: A Memoir of Mothers and More’; Written by Vrinda Nabar; Published by Harper-Collins India; Priced at Rs.299

Sometimes a change is needed, and it seems like Drake has been making changes of his own since firing his agency ICM.

However, this is false Replica Watches, seeing as Drake has decided to stay with his management and has fired his agency, ICM. He will now be represented by William Morris Endeavor.
A source close to Drake told the New York Post, “Drake just felt like there were too many hands in his pockets. He was getting pulled in too many different directions. His team from Canada is trying to wrestle back control. He may go back to them to streamline things.”
A rep from William Morris Endeavor, shed some light on the situation saying, “WME now represents Drake in all areas worldwide. Contrary to previous reports, there has been no change with Drake’s management team, and he continues to be managed by Gee Roberson, Al Branch Replica Watches, Kyambo Joshua and Bryant Cortez [sic] of Hip Hop Since 1978.”
It’s an odd move on Drake’s part to switch agencies at such a high point in his career. Last month, Drake actually shifted most of his representatives to WME but remained represented by Robert Gibbs of ICM for domestic booking. In addition to WME, Drake will also be represented by Bryant’s Management. Artists associated with WME are Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, T.I and more.
In 2009, Drake signed a recording contract with Lil Wayne’s company, Young Money Entertainment. Drizzy released his first album Thank Me Later on June 15, 2010 and it debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 200, going on to become platinum. His second album Take Care, was released in November of 2011 and also debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 200.
Well, for whatever reason he felt like he needed a change. Hopefully this leads him in the right direction.

Rumours have been rife that the pair is planning to wed, but Evans insists he’s in no hurry to propose – on his mum’s advice.
He tells Britain’s Daily Mail, “My mother says I have still got plenty of time to settle down and has advised me not to get married yet.
